Sunshine Golden Retrievers West, as Debbie, Jim and I like to call it, is a small, hobby kennel producing exceptional Golden Retrievers who excel in breed type, trainability, and temperament. I am fortunate enough to have been grafted into an existing, and extraordinary, family of dogs which has its genesis in the finest combination of both English and American bloodlines. Sunshine Goldens has produced titled dogs in every aspect of the fancy, conformation champions of record, Best In Show dogs, Golden Retriever Show Dog Hall of Fame dogs, Specialty winners, including National Specialty winners bitch, obedience titled, agility titled, and hunt test titled animals.

We also take scrupulous care in incorporating the healthiest and heartiest individual dogs in our breeding program, in an ongoing effort to eliminate those genetic defects which currently present a challenge to our breed.

My individual involvement in the breed began almost immediately after my graduation from college and the purchase of my first home. Little did I know then that this would become a passion which has burned brightly in me for almost a quarter of a century. My foundation bitch, Ch. Sunshine’s Petit Fours, O.D. was a gift from Debbie and Jim, and the generosity of that gift resulted in a friendship which has grown into the realization of our partnering together to produce the finest examples of the Golden Retriever which we are capable of producing.

Sunshine Goldens west is located in Pleasant Hill, Oregon, on two beautiful acres of meadow and woods. The following pages will acquaint you with the setting in which my dogs are raised, first in my house as babies, then venturing out in exploration of the meadow and woods, which make up their world.
